Guild Related The Age Of Mortals

Posted by Kyrish on Thursday, February 02, 2012 (20:02:40) (7 reads)

Ok, so we completed Dragon Soul normal 25 last night and are now done with available progress for the week. I wish we could have completed the raid before the nerf, and though we could still have turned it off, what's the point now that its out? The expansion is at that point where guild recruitment is at a lull, people get tired of seeing the same content endlessly, new games are out and they dip into that til the next big thing etc etc. So we may as well use what is given to us, and it seemed to have a more profound effect than Blizzard led everyone to believe.

While we were a sliver from getting Spine down and would have been on Madness this week regardless, Madness got jacked up by the 5% nerf seeing as we downed it in 4 attempts with a few people who had never even done it on LFR (damn having lives you people!) but a boatload (including me) who had not yet actually done Madness on 25-normal til last night. So 4 attempts seems... easy? I donno, I think with all the adds and other bonuses you already get on the fight the 5% nerf just seemed cumulatively larger compared to the other fights.

Below are the... kinda lame screens for the kills (Where the hell have the boss corpses gone Blizz?!) and in the extended text portion is a couple treat shots. Grats to Sasavoid on his legendary a couple weeks ago and yes, our first Madness kill and we got the mount, seems to be guild tradition, and grats to Guundarr on winning that.

Lame Kill Shot number 1, Spine of Deathwing's reward chest.

Lame Kill Shot number 2, handed out loot early out of excitement so we dont even get his awesome (not) jaw plate. Just the final council of the Aspects explaining the new age of Mortals upon us.

Guild Related Not Quite Lootship

Well, its a tad bit more difficult than lootship, but still all around not too bad. Handful of attempts and it was on to Spine. Now Spine is quite a bit of controlled chaos, kind of fun. Shouldn't take an age to down I hope. Also, a great big screw you to Plasma on that fight.

Guild Related The Laggin' Dragon

Posted by Kyrish on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 (20:27:22) (31 reads)

So, a week of utter failure, the holidays stalling all raiding for two weeks and then another week of rust and we finally downed this SOB. Seriously horribly thought out fight for 25-man. Between the lag and the bugs (only one red healer crystal? Really? Thanks for nothing buggy ass fight) this fight is rough for the average gamer.

I was about giving our DPS mental breakdowns with the repeated mantra of getting the DPS up. Easy enough to say, most DPS should be able to handle 25k at this juncture, but the insane lag really doesn't help this goal much. So I am quite proud of the DPS last night who fought through it and lit his face up. Let's see if we can take advantage of the kill this week and down a couple more before the week is over.

In the extended info you can also find a screenshot of our lucky ass guild alt Grubbel (Garollan) who won the mount off Ragnaros when we went in to do a bunch of achievements and continue work on our legendaries.

But here is the best kill shot I could find for Ultraxion. Could barely see his ass on the ground if I wedged myself between the Skybreaker and the temple, and the chest vanishes immediately after I handed out loot. So a nice shot of the Skybreaker docking after the kill seemed fitting.

Guild Related And So Begins the Second Half

Posted by Kyrish on Thursday, December 08, 2011 (20:16:25) (54 reads)

Ok, so we went in and took down Hagara pretty easily, only to face the laggiest and possibly 'buggiest' fight I have seen to date. Not to mention Ultraxion has a pretty steep enrage timer so he is a pretty insane DPS race. With the lag, it was hard to keep up with the healing at all in the final minute of the encounter so thanks for that one-two punch there Blizz.

As for the bugginess... I donno if I can entirely blame Blizz for that one. ExtraActionButton1 does not play nice with custom UI's in any way, and even for some who use the default UI the button liked to just... vanish? In the middle of the fight. Seeing as every warm body who can give Ultraxion a dirty look is basicly required to even match the berserk timer, this was downright infuriating. Only thing we can do is go in and pray the button boss stays out of the fight and fight the lag boss as well as the actual boss.

Anyways, enough about the asshole purple dragon. Anyone else having issues seeing Ice Tomb arrows for Hagara? Seemed like another lovely bug, which I actually had personal dealings with. I got whispers from several people saying they didn't see the arrow on their head, and I usually have a hard time believing that kind of stuff and chalk it up to DPS-meteritis. However sometimes, that arrow DOES NOT appear above ones head. Incredibly annoying. FIX THAT CRAP BLIZZ.

I will also have to put a Hagara kill shot up at a later time as I took a crap one with my UI up and I just don't like posting those.

Guild Related Skittles Down!

Posted by Kyrish on Thursday, December 01, 2011 (17:29:29) (46 reads)

Well, Yor'sahj the Unsleeping is a pretty fun fight. Sadly, it looks a lot more complicated up front than it actually is in practice. There are really effectively only 3 slime combinations and only one of the combinations is a little bit tricky. Basicly if anything has purple in it, purple dies, period, end of discussion. Then if there's no purple it is kill Green or if no green, is when you actually have to make a decision. Yellow, Blue, Black is what's left without purple and green. So which does your guild wanna deal with? Yellow increases raid damage by a buttload, Blue steals all your caster's mana and Black basicly makes it a waste of a phase to DPS the boss cause you have to deal with adds. We chose to take out Black, using healer/prot pally guardian while the raid burns down the mana orb to get the healers their mana back to deal with yellow.

So all in all, a fight that looks to have a ton of randomness and decision making... doesn't really have a whole lot. Besides the Yellow/Blue/Black combo your next decision is when to use hero... and that would be during a combo with Red and Yellow in it (kill the odd-man out of that combo) and the DPS gets to focus completely on the boss for wins, and the healers even get a little help to deal with Yellow's raid damage if you're having trouble with it.

The next fight is quite a doozy. After having done Hagara in the LFR tool and seeing how easy she was there, and then assuming the 50% increase in difficulty in 25-normal I was quite shocked. She's MUUUUUUUCH more difficult in 25-normal compared to the LFR tool. It's baffling how many things don't happen at all in the LFR tool... I am about to the point of thinking the LFR tool is actually easier than the 3 new 5-mans, and that is pretty ridiculous. All in all though, she is another incredibly fun fight and the challenge is welcoming. Should have her down shortly and moving onto the second half.
